Oxidative Ageing Part 1
Oxidative Ageing Part 1- Why Exposure Is Ageing Your Skin - Ritual Beauty Spa Alton & Alresford
We used to think that time was the main threat to youthful skin.
Ageing.
Getting older.
But nowadays, it's actually very difficult to correctly guess people's ages.
And that's because our skincare knowledge and options have never been more sophisticated, and crucially more effective too.
So now there is a different threat.
Exposure.
What do you mean by "Exposure"?
Effectively everything we encounter over a lifetime which affects cellular health and function.
This is everything from the well-known such as UV radiation and pollution, to daily stressors such as diet and lifestyle, as well as blue light from screens.
These all cause "Oxidative Ageing".
What is Oxidative Ageing?
This is where stress and inflammation impair the skin's ability to function correctly. It depletes cellular energy from skin cells, and compromises the skin's ability to repair itself.
It ages the skin.
The issue that we have today, is that our skin is so heavily exposed to these stressors, that it doesn't have the time to repair itself.
And over time, it's ability to repair at all is depleted. It's a vicious cycle!
What does this mean for my skin?
Oxidative Ageing "quietly" weakens your skin. "Bad skin days" become more frequent and skin appears less stable and more reactive.
Over time, firmness is reduced, texture and tone of the skin becomes uneven and laxity develops.
Skin looks tired, feels weakened, and regenerates more slowly than before (it ages).
Does any of these resonate with you Client First Name? If so, then look out for my next email "Oxidative Ageing Part 2" to learn all about what you can do to prevent the impact of this exposure.
