Myth Busting Chemical Peels
Myth Busting Chemical Peels
Have you tried a Chemical Peel yet?
It sounds scary doesn't it?!!
Visions of bright red, peeling faces. Suitable for October 31st perhaps, but otherwise unable to leave the house for days or even weeks.
The truth is chemical peels are one of the very few treatments able to dramatically impact the skin's surface, and I personally swear by them.
So let's bust some myths about chemical peels and set the record straight! What are they? How do they work? And are they right for you?
First of all, what are Chemical Peels?
Think of chemical peels as a refresh button for your skin. They clear away the dull, tired, surface layer skin cells allowing fresh, healthy and vibrant skin cells to shine through.
We use BHA and AHAs to do this, clearing congestion and speeding up your skin's natural renewal process along the way. Professional chemical peels can also firm the skin, target uneven skin tone, reduce the appearance of fine lines and pores... Basically leaving your skin smoother, brighter, and more refined.
Let's bust some myths!
1 - My Skin Will Peel Afterwards
MYTH!
You're busy! You don't have time to take a week off whist your skin recovers from a treatment! But don't worry! Advancements in skincare ingredients mean modern-day peels are skin-friendly and tailored to your specific type of skin and condition, with minimal downtime too! A peel is effectively a very intense exfoliation, but with huge advancements, there is now no need to hide away afterwards.
2 - My Skin is Too Sensitive / Dry / Pale / Dark / Blemished to have a Peel.
MYTH!
Our skincare specialists customise treatments for all skin tones, ages, and range of skin concerns, such as discolouration, breakouts, dull skin, fine lines, and even sensitive or reactive skin. So whether you are looking to maintain healthy skin or target something specific, we will work with you to build a bespoke, safe and effective programme delivering results just for you.
3 - It Will Hurt
MYTH(ish)
It's normal to feel a tingling or slight itchiness around certain areas such as the nose etc, but honestly, the sensation is very slight. It does vary from person to person, and depending on the type of peel and nature of the skin condition we are looking to treat, but any discomfort is slight and short lived.
So in short, if you want natural-looking results with a non-invasive treatments, then chemical peels are a win all round!
